Harvest Aplenty

Hello Sydney’s Green Garden Friends,

We’ve had another great container garden growing season here at SGG!

Harvest your early potatoes now – even though the skins are thin you can enjoy. The vines are probably dying back a bit, but you can leave them in the ground until mid-September.

Peas are finished, but beans are growing strong – be sure to pick when they’re pencil width in diameter.

Lettuces have all bolted but Swiss chard is growing strong and will last into fall a bit.

Sweet potatoes are looking great.

Pickling cucumbers are about finished – here at SGG over 100 jars of pickles were made. Fanfare and other slicing cucumbers are ready to pick now.

Who doesn’t love fresh basil? Pick the leaves and use fresh – or dehydrate them and store them for later enjoyment.

Enjoy the fruits of your container garden harvest!
