Sydney’s Green Garden Containers are Planted

Hello Friends of Sydney’s Green Garden (SGG)

We’ve spent many days in the past couple weeks planting containers – most of them are planted. Hopefully you’ve been able to get your SGG containers planted as well.

Here at Fitger’s we planted the SGG container gardens at Midi Restaurant. So, when you are eating on a patio, or shopping here at Fitger’s be sure to check out our garden. The seeds are sure to sprout soon. Or, if you’re walking along Duluth’s Lakewalk, take a minute to stop by with the kids to see what’s growing.

Also, SGG container gardening products and seeds are available online at this website, as well as at these local stores: The Bookstore at Fitger’s and Mount Royal Shopping Center in Duluth, and at Engwall’s Florist and Greenhouse in Hermantown.

If you’re planting this weekend, be sure to get your SGG seeds and gardening kits soon in order to take advantage of these June planting days.

Spinach and lettuces are up.

Hello Friends of Sydney’s Green Garden (SGG)

The growing season has begun – you can plant your cool weather crops such as lettuces, peas, cilantro, and spinach now. On that note, spinach and lettuces are up, and potatoes are poking through in the research garden containers. June 4-10 you can plant your other seeds.

We are currently testing the durability of the Pocket Hoses ™ you have probably heard about. We’ve noticed it takes a while for the water to drain out after we use it – the manufacturer recommends draining after each use to increase hose longevity. Check back for updates.

SGG container gardening products and seeds are available online at this website, as well as at these local stores: The Bookstore at Fitger’s and Mount Royal Shopping Center in Duluth, and at Engwall’s Florist and Greenhouse in Hermantown.

Be sure to get your seeds and gardening kits soon in order to take advantage of these perfect planting days.

The seeds are in

Hello and Happy April to Friends of Sydney’s Green Garden

Here at Sydney’s Green Garden we are busy packaging seeds and kits. Next week the seed packets and container kits will be available for purchase locally.

We are excited to bring back many of the proven varieties for container gardening here in the Northland. Also included this year are some new varieties that are sure to please. We are pleased to include Yaya carrots in our 6-pack container gardening kits – these bright orange beauties can be harvested early, but if you wait until the slightly cooler temperatures of fall they sweeten up nicely.

We’ve included Mokum and Nelson carrots in our 12-pack container gardening kits. A slender variety, Mokum is a great addition to your container garden with their nice crunch and sweet, delicious flavor. Carefully harvest these tender tasty treats. Nelsons tolerate hot weather, which is nice considering we often have lengthy warm spells Jul-Aug. Harvest at baby or full size.

Check out Sydney’s Green Garden online store – we have a fun selection of seeds and container gardening kits. Or, if you prefer to see the items firsthand, stop by The Bookstore at Fitger’s next week to check out our seed selections and container gardening kits. We’re sure you’ll be pleased at the quality of our seeds and kits.

Container gardening kits and seeds will soon be available at Engwall’s, and Mount Royal Fine Foods in Duluth.
